Look inside
Module 1. Opinions, agreeing & disagreeing
(Izimvo)
Ngokwamin my opinion / as for mengoh-KWAHM
Uluvoan opinion / a viewoo-LOO-voh
Ndicinga ukuba …I think that …ndee-[c]EE-ngah oo-KOO-bah
NdiyavumaI agreendee-yah-VOO-mah
AndivumiI disagree / I don't agreeahn-dee-VOO-mee
Disagreeing with respect
isiXhosa conversation prizes harmony, so disagreement is usually softened. Leading with Ngokwam (in my opinion) or Mhlawumbi (perhaps) before Andivumi signals respect for the other person and keeps the exchange warm.
That is one module. 10 more follow in this guide, with 16 interactive exercises.
